YouTube Income & Earnings
This is the most recent entry in Insider's YouTube money logs, which detail producers' earnings.
YouTubers can make money in a variety of ways, including through sponsorships and the sale of goods. But a significant portion of the income of many YouTube stars comes from Google advertising.
The YouTube Partner Program allows social media creators to monetize their videos using Google-placed adverts.
Creators need to have at least 1,000 followers and 4,000 view hours in the last year in order to start making money straight from YouTube. They can then apply for YouTube's Partner Program, which enables creators to begin making money from their channels through advertisements, subscriptions, and channel memberships after they achieve that threshold.
Recently, eight YouTubers published their revenue per mile, or RPM, rates. The YouTubers claimed that for every 1,000 views, they made between $1.61 and $29.30. (Read a complete description of their RPMs.)
The number of views, location of the audience, and type of material are all factors that affect how much money YouTubers make from the site each month. 26 YouTubers revealed their monthly incomes, which ranged from $82 to $83,000.
The amount that creators make each month can fluctuate. As an illustration, Sarah Lavender, a YouTuber with around 100,000 subscribers, made a range of monthly earnings, from roughly $1,000 in one month to over $6,000 in another. (She provided a breakdown of her exact monthly income for a year.)
Another YouTuber who specializes in personal finance videos and has over 1 million followers made more than $50,000 in a single month.
However, YouTube creators with many fewer subscribers can also succeed financially. For instance, nano influencer Jen Lauren made $213 each month.
Insider has talked to scores of YouTube producers about their monthly earnings, the financial implications of making videos with 100,000 or 1,000,000 views, and other financial issues.
